My 2003 Acura TL wouldn't start but when the fuel pump was banged on it started right up.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have had no problems with my 2003 Acura TL but it recently didn't start until the fuel tank was banged on.  That was 3 days ago and I have had no problems since.  Does this sound like I need a new fuel pump or a fuel filter?

If you had to bump it,i would say replace pump.Or it will get you sooner then later.

I think you will find that the Acura ignition switch is pretty particular how you turn it on. I had/have the same problem, but "think" I found a simple work-around that may help others. 1; Turn the switch initially to the "accessory" position (the first detent) and wait for about five seconds (usually doesn't take that long, but a hesitation at that position is necessary)... 2. Then turn the '"run" position and wait for another second or two... 3. Then go to the "start" position to start the engine. It works virtually every time. Good Luck. GW
