It could be that something else is wrong- the engine could be overheating in a way that is causing the fan to not come on- like if it's low on coolant- is it overheating on the highway? or just sitting still idling? start by checking coolant level and looking for leaks- if the highway cools it down, then it could be your cooling fan- whatever- you are playin' with fire- do NOT overheat your engine- then you really are lookin' at expense-

the electric fans also only come on when the engine thinks it needs to. ussaly the cause of a over heat is something else tho. Check your fluid level your most likely low.
