93 MX3 V6 engine stalling

Asked by themotoworld Jul 08, 2013 at 04:37 PM about the Mazda MX-3

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

recently installed a newer engine in our  93 MX3 v6. The problem is that the car stalls
when coming to a stop and the idle is erratic. When we told the mech / installer about
the issue he said it was the coil, but the problem persists. I have now heard about the
air control valve? This is a really expensive part...$500+ Any ideas? Thanks,

I'd check for vacuum leaks first if I were you. Although it could be the IAC valve, it doesn;t pay to fork over $500 and find out that the problem was caused by a $5 piece of vacuum hose. Also check the air hose between the MAF sensor and the throttle body.By the way, Rockauto has a replacement IAC for under $400

i had the same problem - the problem was a hole in the mass flow boot. Idling like a charm again!
