Hi revs in first gear m4 2019

Asked by screennameM4 Aug 04, 2019 at 01:06 PM about the BMW 4 Series

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently raced a friend with my 2019 BMW 4 with competition package. I
mistakenly thought I was in Sports+ all and D3 Automatic mode. After the tach
reach 6,900 rpms, realized I was in manual. Does that kind of over revving
cause damage on a one time basis?

1 Answer

Redlining an engine that is not fully broken in is not a good idea. Save the races until you have more than 10,000 miles on the engine.
