2011 chevy malibu compression issues

Asked by GuruDTR4NS Jul 12, 2024 at 03:16 PM about the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid

Question type: General

What would cause my daughter's 2011 Chevy Malibu (110k miles) to suddenly
stop accelerating. One mechanic said its a compression issue so we are having
it towed to Chevy. Any help or advice would be helpful.

Poor compression on all cylinders is a timing chain or timing belt problem. But if that were the case it wouldn't run at all. Sounds like a sensor problem. Possibly the accelerator pedal position sensor (not to be confused with the throttle position sensor). Or it could be a traction control problem, or transmission problem. The Chevy Dealer is your best bet for something like this. Jim
