Crosstrek - Flashing "At Oil Temp" Driveability

Asked by BrightsideCR May 26, 2019 at 05:59 PM about the Subaru Crosstrek

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

On my 2014 Subaru Crosstrek, the "At Oil Temp" indicator started flashing.  I
see that this is probably a problem with the transmission control system, but
my question is can I drive it to the dealer or should I wait and have it towed.
The dealer and our local mechanics are closed today and tomorrow due to the
holiday, so I can't ask them.

How far to the dealer? If it were just a few miles I might chance it.

About 25 miles away. I have driven it about 6-8 miles to return home from where the light started flashing, but don't want to risk causing damage to the car without more information about what's happening.
