Question type: Car Customization

just did an engine swap on my supra mk3 but used an engine that came out of a car that is an automatic and now it will only start when I jump power to the starter.... the starter solenoid has power and can hear it work but unsure if its to do with the automatic neutral safety? the engine seems to be retarted in the timing also.when i advance the spark plug leads it seems to over advance it.too much one way or the other.
