Marker and dash lights not working

Today my interior dash lights and marker lights stopped working, but they will faintly work when I press the brake pedal. I think I have a grounding issue somewhere, but does anyone have any ideas?

Did you resolve your problem? I am encountering the same problem with my 2003 4 cyl 4wd Tacoma.

I did. It ended up being a blown fuse in the panel under the hood. I checked there once, but I must have overlooked the blown fuse. I felt rather stupid when I looked the second time.
Thank you for getting back to me. When I replaced the fuse for the rear lights everything that was wrong was corrected. However after turning the truck off and back on the fuse blew again. Also the daylight running lights (DRLs) were not working. My truck was made for the US market so its wiring was modified in some way so that the headlights would automatically act as DRLs as required in Canada. There is (or was) no need to switch the head lights on to have front DRLs - although not required by law the rear lights would be on also. OK, so what I did was disconnect the trailer lights from the tail lights as was recommended in another blog site. Actually I just did this on the driver's side as that was enough to fix the fault that was causing the rear light fuse to blow. We still do not have automatic DRLs but we can make do with turning the headlights on.
