Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Our local Ford dealer wants $2,600 for a new seat.  It appears seat is not meeting the lock track, which is preventing it from restoring to upright position.  Anyone have any ideas?  Do we really need a whole new seat?

Thanks

How did that happen? Look at the recycling companys (junk yards) in your area. Or try an auto seat covering shop. See if they have any ideas.

Thanks so much. Not sure what happened other than we were utilizing the third row seats and when we tried to restore seat to upright seating, it wouldn't budge. We have several junk yards around as well as a seat covering shop. We will check with them. Thanks so much! Have a great day. :)

If you can get the seat out, it should be able to be put back in original sitting position. If it will do that, look at the track lock and see if something is bent. It makes no sense to need a new seat over that. You may have just had some trash in the lock area that caused it to jam. These seats are tough and I think you should be able to save it. Just a side note... did you remove the headrest before you lowered them? The first time I put mine down, I didn't and they got stuck until I moved both front seats forward to free them. I make it a point to always do that with mine and now I never have a problem with them getting stuck. If for some reason the seat is actually bent or broken and cannot be fixed, a used one should be around $100. There are enough Expeditions in junk yards you should be able to find one in your exact color. (Well, that depends on how populated an area you live in.)
