coolant problem
my daughters 2007 explorer v6 4.0 was running cold no heat output. I meet her at an oil change place to get the oil changed and fluids checked. they found the top radiator hose sucked into a vaccum. the coolant level was slightly low. I'm thinking the thermostat is faulty and don't notice any leaks. probably should have the system pressure tested. any thoughts?

Pressure test best thing to do, hopefully no head gasket leak, has the coolant system ever been flushed ?
Might try something like I did on my Towncar. do this when engine is cooled down. Remove the antifreeze reservoir cap(snaps on or unscrews). Squeeze the upper radiator hose a few times and this might get excess air out of the coolant system. You may notice the air bubbles in the reservoir as you squeeze the hose. Make sure to put the cap back on and also check the radiator cap that it is completely on tight.

If top hose was sucked in system has air. Bleed system like this remove over flow tank cap fill anti freeze to full level leave cap off and start vehicle and let idle and reach operating temp anti freeze will start to fill up in tank this is normal once t- stat starts to open anti freeze level will drop in over flow tank fill back up to full level than put cap back on. All air will be out of cooling system
