4X4 switch clicks under dash (relay ?)but wont shift

moveing control from 2 to 4WD clicks under the dash 5 or 6 times then stops but does not shift . is it the selenoid , and how do you check it

the fords have a motor on the back of the transfer case,is easy to get to ,that could be your problem.you here the relay clicking so that tells you your switch is working.
