On Fords, if the OD light blinks or comes on, only to go off after the car is restarted is usually a signal of an electronic problem. A tranny shop scan tool can easily diagnosis.

thank you i now have another question i have been unable to fine a tranny dipstick. i have tryed junk yards, dealers, bronco graveyard, lmc they sent me the wrong dipstick to short i need one for e40d

I picked up a dip stick (engine) at AutoZone. It had an adjustable knob type affair near the top handle which can be slid down the shaft and tightened in place. You'll have to research the length of the tranny stick and make sure you purchase one long enough.

A salvage yard would be your best bet then. Or, when you bring the truck in the get the OD problem fixed, tell them to put in a new dip stick also.
