The F-150 Lightnings had a 5.4L V-8 motor which comes out to about 329.53 or 330. All the Ford Broncos from 1978 thru 1996 had either a 5.0L V-8 which is 302 cubic inches or they had a 351 which is a 5.8L or a 400 which is a 6.6L. None of the Broncos ever had a 5.4L engine in them which BTW was a modular type engine like the 4.6L. All the 78 and newer Broncos were 4wd and were the original SUV and were mainly for snowplowing or towing a trailer. The lightning was a 2wd F-150 pickup truck made for street use cruising. Thank you both.. I'm not familiar with the fords very much so I didn't know if the HTH was a ford deal lol... But I appreciate your help and knowledge! Your answers were what I was thinking just wanted to get another input! Thanks again!
Here is one for all of you......I have a 1990 F150 4x4 XLT Lariat, Lightning. has a 8speed auto. trans, by borg warner, and a 5.8L with ram air induction. this truck is completely stock from factory. does not have power windows, or or door locks,or seat. and only one fuel tank. I can only gues that it was a special order truck???? let me know what you think

I've never seen nor heard about a factory built 4x4 Lightning before but much stranger vehicles have evolved from Ford's many factory assembly lines. So, Unless you special ordered it yourself or your dad did and you were there at the time, The only way to find out for sure is first check the DSO on the door tag. If it is blank or has a 5 digit code, then it was special ordered. If it has just a 41 or 26,etc. then it was probably not a special ordered vehicle. Secondly, you can check the VIN(vehicle identification number) at http://www.decodethis.com and see what that pulls up, the finally, Go to http://martiauto.com and see if you can get the Marti report on your vehicle. Kevin Marti goes up to 1993 but may be able to help you if you email him directly. The Marti report will tell you EVERYTHING about your Ford vehicle right out of Ford's records and you can be sure it's 100% accurate. Good Luck, Kenny/MrBlueOval
The lightning's had 2 generations 1993-1995 is gen 1 Lightning's and they had a naturally aspirated High output 5.8l v8. There were very very few 4x4 lightning's in 1995 I believe was the year, they were a one year run only. There was no factory 1990 f150 4x4 lariat lightning. Lariat is its own submodel and so is the lightning. That would be like saying you have a 2019 xlt platinum truck, which is two different trucks, one a work truck type and the other a luxury truck. Also the lightnings were built starting in November of 1992 as 1993 model trucks. Unless it is a very early proto-type truck and the donor truck was an xlt truck, there isnt a way it is stock.

Alright guys really? Mr.BlueOval has no clue about the 1st gens and Collin is spreading some truth but also wrong. Bradbeers is also very wrong. The 1st gen Lightning’s were only 2 rwd pick ups, standard cab, fleetside bed dual tank only trucks. Has to have vin code R and lightning badges and came in 2 colors for 93’ red and black. 94’ got red with color matched door handles and they had new white color and then black again. Same colors for 95 which was the last year. 94 red and 95 red are different. The seats have to say lightning on them aswell. They had a tube bumper as an option from factory. 95 removed the lightning decal on the bed door and did a svt badge on it. 93-95 came with the 5.8w high output with GT-40 heads and other work from factory and 4.10:1 in the rear end. They were never a 4x4 truck ever. The lightning was the first Ford F-150 to have bucket seats as well. The 2nd gen Lightning was a 5.4 supercharged v8 99-04. Now back to the 90’s....ford made a appearance package called “Nite” it was nothing special at all. Truck was painted black and had a Nite decal on the bed or the side. They offered them in the bronco, f150 and Ranger. All black and came in any motor combo and if ordered 4x4. There were never any 1995 4x4 Lightning’s ever. I wouldn’t trust mr.blueoval at all with his knowledge.
