Can I tow a sedan car with a van?

I am about to move from New York to San Francisco. I was thinking of buying a ford
f-350 box truck, pack my stuff and tow my mazda protige behind it. The problem is
that I can't find a personal insurance for the truck.  Now I am thinking that maybe a
F-350 extended Van would do the trick. The insurance would be only $240 more.
Does any one know if fully packed Ford f-350 would handle the weight of a tow
dolly?
Any ideas of how to move stuff from 1 bedroom apartment and the car across the
country with the lowest possible cost would be appreciated. (don't want to rent
uhaul, loose $2k and be obligated to unpack it and return within 10 days.)
