Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Truck will shut off when cold, but crank right back up most of the time.  But when it is hot it cranks sometimes and runs ruff, and some times it runs all right.  What do you think it could be to fix the problem.

Change the two terminal coolant temperature sensor as it's the cheapest and easiest place to start and could cause what you're explaining. Also clean the Mass Air Flow sensor also but ONLY use dedicated MAF cleaner

I found a picture of my motor, and I see both coolent sensor, one on left and one on the right side. I have found and replace the one on the left, but can't find the one that shows in the picture on the right side. I have order a new MAF, so will let you know how it works tomorrow afternoon when it comes in. Thanks a bunch for the information. Is that common for the one on the right, not to be there?

I'll have to look at my truck later to compare, mines a 4L though

What about the Fuel Pump? Is it possible for it to go off and on? Or does it just quit when it quit. thanks Hotshot

They can get funky but usually quit outright shortly after

Thanks a bunch buddy, I think that fix it. I went down to wallmart and back with out it stalling out. And It Ideal's A lot smoother.

Yes, sir, I guess things just wear out after 160,000 miles. MAF, straighten her right out. I change the computer and coil pack last year, but she hadn't run right in the last couple of weeks, and that was just what she needed. Thanks again, I just love this internet, save me tons of money looking for the problem on my own.
