Advice on buying an old TBird

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm interested in buying a classic t-bird. I like both the
1964-1966 model and 1967-1969 model. It's a tough
choice as both car models are different and great.
Which of the too will hold the most value? 2nd part of
question is the 1966 I'm looking at has the 428 engine
and complete. The only thing missing is a paint job
and the guy is asking $4,500. The 1967 is totally
complete and the man is asking $6,500. What are
everyone's thoughts?

i would go wth the 1967. But first go to Hagerty valuation tool on the interweb. Punch in your t-birds info. They will give you valuation info along with price trends over a 5 year span.

Thanks for response. Avg value of 66 is 13K while the 67 is 10K. The 66 seems to be increasing in value while 67 is holding steady.

65-66 have value & have more luxury. Better ride & are classics all ready.

Thanks Barneuma that's what I was thinking as well. The 64-66 are rising in value while the 67 continues to be a sleeper pick.

It has power steering and power assisted brakes. Disk in front and drums out back.Recent upgrades to engine include New Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake with new Edelbrock 850 cfm carb, Mild edelbroock performer cam and lifter set and Mallory electronic distributor. 18" Mandora rims with nice rubber.

Honestly I don't want a show car I want a car I can drive. I will eventually upgrade suspension.
