Subaru Head Gasket Problem

Asked by Liz Mar 11, 2019 at 06:12 PM about the Subaru Forester

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

What year did the Subaru Forester head gasket/oil leak problem end, 2011 or
2012?  We're shopping to replace our 2003, but ideally want to make an
informed, better decision on this go 'round.  Thanks.

The newer Subaru Foresters with the FB engine (starting in 2011) have a timing chain and these do not seem to have head gasket problems but some of them have oil consumption problems and beware of the CVT which is expensive to replace.
