98 subaru. leaving it parked for three weeks, any tips.
driving my 98 to Yosemite and parking it for up to three weeks. Curious if
there's anything I can do to make sure when I return, it'll start up. I was told to
disconnect the negative cable and insulate it with something that won't
conduct charge? Anything other ideas

If your battery is in good shape I would not worry about anything. You can remove a battery cable if you want to or install a battery disconnect that you can buy at an auto parts store. Don't leave a cooler or anything that looks like food in the car as bears can open your car like a tin can.
Take a set of jumper cable just in case!
Thanks, sounds like if anything, I had better invest in jumper cables. Ha, I'm a lot more up to speed on dealing with bears (JMTx13) I won't even be thinking of eating in the car, much less leaving anything that looks like food.
John Muir trail 13x is hard core.
Thanks F_O_R . . . oddly enough I found one or two other questions from you ( but you seem to have figured out it"s the John Muir Trail ) in my email. but so not see them posted here-- what am I missing? maybe they were private replies? I have more questions, so I guess I'll figure this site out.

Disconnect neg terminal (one closer to fender) and bend the cable up away from the battery; perhaps put a magazine or piece of cardboard between them so the cable doesn't flopp back down onto the terminal while you're away. Easy.
