Porsche 944

Asked by Jake Apr 26, 2016 at 07:07 PM about the Porsche 944

Question type: Car Customization

Hey guys, I was wondering what non-Porsche
(preferably Japanese) engines will fit into the
engine bay of any year 944 manual transmission. I
want to get a 944, except they are extremely
unreliable for a daily driver. What else, other than a
Japanese engine will I need to get in order to make
this car reliable enough for a daily driver?

What makes you think they are unreliable engines? For sure they are higher maintenance than a US 5.7 liter pumping out 100hp and 8mpg, but you are more likely to have electrical, interior or paint problems on a car of this age.

Corvette LS motor swaps seem to be popular for the 944. Heres a link for you to check ot with some more info: http://www.superstreetonline.com/features/1409-spec-clutch-1987-porsche-944-turbo-v8-swap/
