That's really an opened ended question but I would say yes, the newer models do seem to be more reliable than the pre-2009 models. Good Luck, happy hunting.

The intermediate shaft bearing assembly issue is resolved in the newer models. So it should be a safer bet.

IMS issue resolved in the later models. If you buy earlier models I suggest LN engineering IMS bearing upgrade. I've owned several and felt the upgrade gave me piece of mind and very reliable cars.

Thanks to all for info and confirmations! Probably will have to back off to a base model for budget reasons but there is no substitute...
