What does it mean when the service engine soon light comes on?

Asked by chelzoey Aug 27, 2014 at 08:29 AM about the Mitsubishi Galant

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 mitsubishi galant, and when I was driving home from work yesterday the
service engine soon light came on.  I don't have the manual.  What do I do?

Get an oil change. That light does not mean anything is wrong with your car, it triggered by mileage as a reminder for oil changes and routine maintenance, such as rotate tires. It should not be confused with CEL Check Engine Light

In fact it is the same as the check engine light. Mitsubishi uses Service Engine Soon for the same function. I would read the codes with an OBD2 scanner. You can do this yourself. Anyone who like to fix or at least understant their car problem, look up "Mitsubishi Service Engine Light Soon on Youcanic" Just follow the steps in the guide and you will be in the right path.
