85 cutlass eng. Trans. Swap

Asked by Oldsman85 Jan 17, 2017 at 08:39 PM about the Oldsmobile Cutlass

Question type: General

I have an 85 cutlass 2 door salon with a 307 4brl
and I believe something like a 210 ? Transmission.
Not sure as I'm not GM savvy.  I would like a
Oldsmobile 350 in it. I bought a 1977 4 door Delta
88 with original eng. And tranny. Would I encounter
problems installing the 350 engine and
transmission out of the Delta 88 into the Cutlass
Salon ?

The 307 is what the car came with. I suspect that the older engine and trans will probably bolt in with few problems.

The block sizes are the same. The real difference with the 307 is it is a much smaller bore size than the 350. The Olds 350 should drop in, you'll have to deal with the linkage hookups, new exhaust manifold, etc. You should also determine your gear ratio for suitability or find a good one for your new setup.
