wires touched on circuit board and caused a burnt spot - what do I need to do
to repair

If the burned spot does not touch any conductors (called "lands") on the board, you should be goog to go. If, however, the burned area affects the lands on the board, the easiest wat to fix it is to solder a jumper wire in place of the burnt land. Use a wire about the same diameter as the burnt land and solder it to a point where the land is still attached to the board; two places - one on either side of the burn.
