Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2000 Grad AM 6cyl. Noise under the hood. I thoiught it was the blower fan but fan is working . The noise is in all blower positions, Sounds like rattling. When rattling exceleration is limited and performance of car takes a dive. When not rattling car performs good. Car has been well maintained and has 154,000 miles.

the component belt (a flat belt for all) has a tensioner...these wear out and lose their stuff...get worn to one side and make a misaligned and noisy~
