timing belt broke

I believe those models had interference engines. It probably bent the valves when the belt broke. What year, model, and engine is it?
All Volvo five cylinder engines are interference you have no compression because the valves are bent. You'll have to either replace the engine or get the cylinder head rebuilt.

Yup. Broken. Even at idle you can break the valves off. I even witnessed a timing belt break on an s70 turning it over, it needed a valve job as well.

For others that read this. Make sureyou change your timing belt, pulleys, and tensioners at the recommended intervals! (70k for belt) (140k for belt, tensioner, idle pulley and water pump)
