how to disassemble the gear shifter to try and repair the gear shift trigger at the top of the shift knob

My 2005 volvo s60 won't shift out of park, once we got it out of park......,we couldn't then get it back into park. I'd
like to take it apart.

Does the button feel broke? Maybe something else broke, bent, or out of Adjustment. Just trying to save you a Extra headache. Like a park pin/spring. Linkage, wedged walnut or rock somewhere ect.

if it is not moving out of park at first you should turn ignition to 2 position i mean all lights on cluster should be on then push the brake you should listen a magnet clicking sound that is the safety switch now the gear should be free if no first check the electric wire that is coming for safety switch then release the shifter cable maybe the cable is stuck. good luck
