My S90 will not start

Asked by Becky Jan 04, 2015 at 11:42 PM about the Volvo S90

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My S90 just will not start.  The engine turns over, the starter turns over with a groaning sound.  I got a new battery, no help. It sounds like it's not getting any gas.  Any answers would be appreciated.

Need to down load the fault codes from the OBD2. That will give you a list of the fault codes. Also when was last time timing belt was changed?

There are two reasons for a no start when the battery is good: 1) no fuel or 2) no spark. The more common case is no fuel. To test which one it is, get some starting fluid and spray into the air intake (remove the air filter and spray in the hole). If the car does start, it means a no fuel condition. If it doesn't, then the issue is in the ignition. Can you test and tell us what happens?
