Ok, now the question is, what can I expect to ay for a compelete suspension conversion. One garage wants over $1000,and a couple of days, another says around $600, and one day.

The time factor is a matter of Parts availability (usually). The Labor time is what I would concern myself with: How many Hours Labor will they charge and how much per Flat-Rate Hour? example: 4 hours labor at $75 an hour. The job won't take more than an afternoon but there are other vehicles ahead of yours that also need repair and then there's the issue of getting the parts in a timely manner. I almost forgot to mention the mark-up. Most shops won't let you bring your own parts for a plethora of reasons but mostly because they want to make a profit off of them. The fact is that if you want a proper job done without problems later - it will cost you a little money. Talk to the Service Writer at the shop - see what they have in mind and what it takes. Most people think that Mechanics are a bunch of thieves and crooked as all get out - and some are! But if you hire a reputable PROFESSIONAL - sure it will cost a little more in the beginning but what is your safety and piece of mind worth - not to mention the additional cost of having to have it done the second or perhaps the third time?
