Is this a major problem? Need help ASAP please!!!

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought a 99 infiniti qx4, previous owner says he got a code for a crankshaft position sensor, replaced it, then
ran out of gas one day, and now has very sluggish acceleration. I've driven the vehicle myself, drives perfectly fine
and from what I feel and hear is sound mechanics wise. Transmission is fine, runs and shifts smoothly but has slow
acceleration. Can anyone help me? My boss at Goodyear says I should take it to the dealer, but I'm really low on
funds right now. Thanks

a lot of times the electric fuel pump in the gas tank is cooled by the fuel in the tank. running the tank dry will fry the fuel pump. a local mechanic might be less expensive than a dealer, call around to shop for prices.

Ok, that makes a lot of sense, but do you think that will help my issue? I don't know how common this issue is, very hard to find any info about it
