Engine is old; however,it has only done 90,000 km. The oil pressure sensor was replaced on the 80,000 km service and pressure shows maximum at speed ( 3 units ) and 1 at idle. Coolant temperature is 80 C in prolonged runs.

Update on problem. Checked oil level on dipstick, just under the upper plastic guide. Decided to add one litre of oil. Oil warning light has disappeared. Sensor must be very sensitive to even a small loss of oil. I suppose a 27yo engine burning 1 litre of oil in 9000 km is not unusual.
