i dont know the answer still but i do know that getting an alignment sure didnt do anything to fix my problem. So another question- when changing the axle on one side do u need to change the other side even if it shows no problem?

Ok... thank you. Yes you will need to get a front-end alignment. Even if the tie rod ends were kept in the exact same place, that is not rotated at all on the tie rod, the replacement axle is not exactly the same as the old one. Each axle is unique. That is, there are slight machining variations all within specs. While you're having the front-end aligned, have the technicians balance the front wheels too. You will find out the driveability of your Impala is smooth. Pretty much what Jay replied earlier.
