chevy lumina 2006 ignition key problem

today i tried to switch on the car the key not turn right or left .... tried with steering wheel hold it in left not work .... gear in P locked also ... any tips guys

You did everthing right, sounds like the cylinder is defective and i would call a locksmith, cheaper then the dealer...
