can i take the 305 and trans out my 1980 camaro and put it in a 1970 malibu?

im thinking about buying a 1970 Malibu. it has no motor and no transmission. I have a 1980 Camaro with a 3 speed automatic trans an a 305 small block. will they swap and if they do how much moding has to be done??????

The 305 will drop right in, and the 3 speed automatic is likely the same transmission as the Malibu had from the factory. Probably a Turbo 350. If you want significantly better fuel economy, though, I would think about changing the transmission to a 200R4 overdrive automatic. That gives you both the locking torque converter and overdrive. The highway mileage with jump! The 200R4 is a good transmission once it has been rebuilt properly. From the factory they left a LOT to be desired.

The only thing I think would be a problem neutral switch Rewire switch us diagram from both cars But yes it will fit easy swop I think trans mount is the same brkt if not Switch brkt across frame Good luck
