You can not bore a 305 to a 350. With the amount of cheap 350's out there it would be better just to get a 350 block even if it was possible to bore a 305 that far as the machining cost would be relatively high.

Like kevin said. if you do bore a 305 out that much the cylinder side walls will be weak.

Look into a crate motor where I live you can buy a complete dyno run 383 with 450 horses for $3850 mnuns carb and accessories, with financing available, thats what I plan to to get for my 79 T-Top

no ,it won't happen . you can get a new crate engine for $ 1500 & up depending on how fast you want to go.

The larger 350 ci. motor had different metal, larger cylinders, water jackets were different, stroked, different heads, etc.. If you want to machine the 305, go to a junk yard, get a short block or long block 350 and work on it. You can put in a 400 crank, bore it .030 out and have a 383 stroked motor. Use either Chevy trick heads or any other after market heads, a cam of your choice that will work with your set up. Or if you don't want to bother, a crate engine may be the better way to go. I've seen 305's taken out to near 350 ci, but they didn't last. Over heating, cylinder failure, block cracking due to high revs, and a lot of money put into nothing.
