Bessie, I also own a factory 1978 4speed Monte. Bought mine new in Nov of 78 from a dealer in Bellevue, WA. Yes, it is quite rare, Chevy made 1,719 manual transmission montes in 78, some were 3 speed v6s as well. While not mainstream muscle car or classic car collectible, there are G body (Monte, cutlass, Grand Prix, grand am, Malibu, ElCamino ) enthusiasts (1978-1988) that covet the factory manual cars, especially the factory V8 cars. Please join the Facebook Third generation 1978 - 1980 Monte Carlo owner group and post information and your story about the car there. You will become an instant celebrity. You can also join and search the G Body forums or Monte Carlo forums on the internet. If your car is rust free and original and in very good or show condition you can expect the right person to value it reasonably high, with a T Top, AC and buckets it could be worth as much as $20k (US), in poor condition say $4-7k. Problem is not many of the 1719 are still in operating condition or have original components still with the car. I've ipgraded mine (about 20 years ago) with a high performance 350 and 4 speed but kept all original parts in the event someone wishes to go back to original 305 and Saginaw 4 speed. I don't know of any other fully original 4 Speed monte that's in good condition, so if yours is please be sure to post it in the FB group. Awesome car by the way. Enjoy it.
