can you hear the fuel pump cycle when you first turn on the key, without starting it, just to the on position? try starting while a helper sprays carb cleaner into the intake, if she goes, then you might have a bad fuel pump.

A dead coil is an option. Here is some info and how to test http://www.ehow.com/about_5595891_bad-ignition-coil-symptoms.html

If you jumped time, that means you lost a timing belt/chain. Turning over the engine may cause damage with pistons and valves meeting. Be careful. A bad coil or wire off will stop the spark to the plugs. See if you have spark at the plugs. There several ways, some not so smart, others good. 1. Don't hold the plug end of the wire when cranking. It is shocking to tell the truth. 2. pull the plug wire and hole the end metal part close the the engine block. (metal) and see if a spark jumps from the wire to the block.. 3. remove the plug, put back on the wire and see if the plug sparks when cranking the engine. 2 and 3 are the best unless you have a device that will read the electrical charge when cranking. 4. pull the wire from the cap, holding the metal end close the the open hole and crank the engine. Got spark? Coil good if you get spark from all 4 ways.

If you're getting spark and you're sure your getting fuel to the engine, check the timing. This may take a garage to test properly, but it's better that bending valves, push rods, or putting holes in pistons or the block.
