aloha,I have a 93z71 1500k w/350 motor 5.7,the oil coolant hose broke and drained all the oil from my motor while driving, but not more then 1 mile into it the check gage light comes on then a few seconds later my truck shut down.I get out and see that the oil coolant hose busted.and oil all over the ground.I then tow it home not that far maybe 1mile .I change out the hose put more oil in the motor and try too start it,my battery is charged and I can hear my starter clicking but my truck will not turn over.could it be my starter, alternator or is my motor in the grave.

Yes unfortunatly your motor may be in the grave...I would see if you could turn over the engine with a breakerbar via the harmonic balancer on the front of the engine by hand before you give up on it...see if it budges... if your lucky the oil may have just shorted out starter or somthing...But I never have that kind of luck myself...Well I dont believe in luck anyway.
are you sure that its the motor oil. CM products use dex cool which is an oil based coolant designed to lubricate as it cools. you might want to try a simple oil change as the computer is not letting the engine start as there is too much oil in the crank case. It could also be something as simple as a bad ground. Just some things to ponder. You complained about oil on the ground, some of the coolant might be interfering with the ground somewhere and you are losing a solid connection. Gavin
You prolly just shorted out the starter. At least that's cheaper then a new engine.
when you turn the key on engine off does the fuel pump run for a few seconds then shut off? I believe tat in the older trucks also , if your oil pressure senso doesn't see soo much psi it will not send power to the fuel pump.
there is a realy good chance that the motor is toast. when u run a motor out of oil it dosent take long for them to seize up especially if they are under a load like going down the street
Well i would try removing the serpintine belt then try to start it, but dont leave it run long because obviously the water pump will not be running. it could be a coincidence that this happened at the same time but that style had a defect in the alternator. the alternator would overheat and baisically just weld itself stuck. to make this hard to diagnose was the serpintine belt would have enough tension that it would not slip, it would just hold the motor stuck. try it and let me know what you find out
u MAY be able to save ur pistons but ur crank is probly done.
