I have an '88 Silverado, she has 486k on her. Not lying. I think she finally fell n cracked her head. Have access 2 n older 350. How do I tell if she will accept it or not. Am I looking 4 numbers?

Basically it is just the top of the motor, the components that make your truck run. You need to see if your carburetor or TBI will fit on the intake of the older motor. You may have to swap intake manifolds to have all your components, TBI, coil, distributor, EGR, any sensors, brackets and such. I believe the vortec 5.7 motor were put in trucks starting in 1996. Now, I know in 1988 they have the V-6 vortec motor in GMC trucks, to go to a V-8 would be a hole nother ball game. So what I'm saying is yes you can. Just hook it up like the motor you take out.

Older 350s (small block chevys) are pretty much straight out swap up until late 89 or 90 except for a few brackets and possible motor mounts. As long as its not an LS series motor, you will an easy go with it. Problem is the mounting holes for PS and other accessories. Just do a visual on the major ones.

1996 & up Vortec block & head. Block bolt holes and motor mount holes still the same. His motor is older so no problem swapping the top of the motor to run with his truck computer. (just for reference, Vortec heads have only 8 bolt holes for the intake)
