I Still need help Can anybody repeat how to do timing setting on this 5.7 1997 Chevy Suburban

turn the crank until TDC...look at your distributor cap to find #1...the distributor may have a helical gear that will upset your placement...what you must do is find out how much it moves over and note and compensate for this (perhaps 15 degrees of rotation)....okay crank on the one (power stroke)...distributor pointin' on the one and you sholud be there....take a Golf Tee and stop the vacuum once the vacuum advance bellows has been disconnected in order to break out with the timing light to put it at perhaps 7degrees BTDC~understoood?comprendez~

now valve timing (if you'd removed the timing chain, is a different can-0- worms~
