How many miles can a Tahoe be good for
39 Answers
With proper maintenance 200,000-250,000 miles. After that, major parts need to be overhauled and it's better to get a newer truck.
MANY MILES, slap a new motor and tranny in her and run her to half a million.
I have 194k on mine. Original motor and trans, I've put alot of work in it, but the body is in great shape. You'll start to "feel the road at around 130K even with new shock, body mount go to shit around this mileage. The good thing is that motor's are cheap and not bad to replace.
I have a 2002 Chevy Tahoe with original motor and trans... over the life of it I have change fule pump, battery, alternator and water pump... Me and ole girl are now at 305,763!

I have seen an Avalanche, which is the same basic vehicle, with over 425.000 miles. Transmission replaced at 398,000 miles, but the engine is still going. I have over 202,000 miles on mine with the original front brake pads which were around 50% last time I checked. There are some smaller parts that tend to fail that I have had to replace, the knock sensors, intake manifold gaskets, water pump, rear load leveling shock air pump, and a fuel pump, and the windshield washer pumps. There are a few other items that need work, but nothing unusual for any vehicle. The mentioned repairs are all normal issues, and except for the air and fuel pump, pretty straight forward and reasonably priced repairs. I hope to drive mine for a very long time. I have been able to do most of the repairs myself and there is a lot of information out there to help with most of the repairs.

I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe with 248,563 on odometr.I am original owner and take care of her. Just had a/c recharged, first time replaced radiator, power steering hose and main computer. Thats it. Tomorrow she goes in for new struts and overhaul of front suspension. Love this truck!!!
2001 Chevy Tahoe LS has 119,000 miles. I've done all recommended maint including front and rear differential fluid changes, radiator flush, transmission flush etc. I've had to replace the EVAP solenoid and carbon box and I've replaced both front power window motors Also had a front drivers side seal leak which was fixed. It has developed a ticking sound on a cold start that goes away but it still runs great and has plenty of power. I am getting 14mpg in the winter and have gotten up to 20mpg in the summer not bad for a 16 year old vehicle that has been used to tow heavy loads.
I am the proud owner of a 2002 Tahoe with original engine and transmission that currently has 420,000 plus mile!
If I purchase a 2007 tahoe for 1299 with 200k miles I'm I getting a good deal

I have seen a 2002 Avalanche, which is on the same chassis, go 495,000 mile on the transmission, and the engine is still cranking at over 500,000 miles. The 2002 - 2006 were supposedly the best, but I think that is more about the brakes. I have over 229,00 on my 2002 Tahoe with the original front brakes still around 50%. The GMs are long outlasting the others. I shopped for trucks from my daughter a couple of years ago, and found a large number of this vintage still running well up in to the 400,000 mile range. You can check Kelly Blue book for the value. The price really depends on the extras, how it has been maintained, and your location. Some areas have more problems due to weather and salting of roads. Although my Tahoe has spent some time in the snow, I am in California and they do not salt the roads. I do not have any rust or oxidized aluminum parts pretty much anywhere. Pretty good for a 16 year old vehicle with over a 1/4 million miles on it. I am expecting at least twice this many miles based on what I have heard from other owners and a large number of mechanics that I know. If you are looking for a long runner, and the price falls into the fair range that Kelly Blue book shows, then you're in good shape. Make sure the title is clear. I know that that this is about the price that my Tahoe would go for on the street, but I have 4wd, possi rear, factory rock guards, tow package, leather, autoride with load leveling, and premium sound system along with all of the other available luxury systems.
I'm the proud owner of a 2002 Chevy Tahoe and sheis running great with original engine at 376000+... everything about this truck is great.
I own a 2002 z71 tahoe, 258,000 and going strong. Does not use oil or leak it. The only repairs I have had are two windows that needed repaired, one wheel bearing, one battery, replaced spark plugs and wires at 100,000 miles, and a o ring on air conditioning. That is it....
I know this post is old, but I have a 2001 GMC Yukon. It has 270,000 miles and drives/runs great. I did have transmission rebuilt at 200,000 miles and a new A/C compressor put in. But other than that and of course maintenance...brakes, fluids etc. No more big problems. It's a great vehicle.
I’m looking to purchase a 2011 Tahoe with 196k miles for 12,400? Is this a good deal?
I selling 65,000 miles 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe LT with 4WD, Air Conditioning Clean excellent condition WB11''registration Current CA smog The original mileage Original motor and trans Then it was put into storage were it remained until Jan / 2016 Rick
My boss has a tahoe we use every day for work it's a 04 with a 5.3 and it has 405k miles on it
For Any year Tahoe with close to 200,000 miles good price 3000 to 9000 depends if northern or southern Tahoe. Due to rust and damage from use. Fuel lines brakes line etc. are issues in northern climates due to salt even on as new as 2012 model.

For $4500 a 2007 Tahoe LT with 206k miles a good deal?
My 2010 Tahoe just turned 400000 miles with original engine . Only regular maintenance done and a new transmission that went at 230000.
Nothing major so far on this 2010....solid vehicle for sure!
I purchased a 2007 Tahoo with over 200,000 miles almost 2 years ago. It runs ok, but I had to have the rear seal (expensive) and the front seal replaced, the oil pan seal too. The traction and tire stability lights come on for some reason. I had it checked by 2 auto repair shops and was told that it is electrical. Checking the web, it seems that several 2007 Tahoes have that same problem. It runs well otherwise, but I plan to keep it for just another year.

My husband and I purchased a 2004 Chevy Tahoe back in 2016 when our family expanded by one more baby. LOL. When we bought the Tahoe for me to drive, it had 255,000 on it -original owner, no wrecks, everything about it was perfect! My Tahoe is still going strong 4 years later with 335,104 miles!!

I have a 2000 Tahoe LS, took her off the dealership floor ( late 1999 ) with less than 8 miles. 21 years later, and 252K miles, still running strong. New transmission at exactly 200K and recently a new fuel pump. Cant say that I've had any better of a vehicle. Replaced all of the suspension at 150K, keep all my fluids new, and replaced one grill and fender ( thanks to the deer that wanted to play chicken ). If I could find another one in the same shape I'd give just about anything for another one.
