1997 avenger with mistu engine 4 banger 5 speed broke timing belt poss cylinder damage

dealer says he has to put the whole thing back together before we can know if i need new cylinder  
says he cant do compression test with out the whole thing back together  is this so...i have to pay for
tear down and replacement for water pump new tesnsiorer belt and surpent belt  all ok with me
und4erstand that.l...but another whole teardown for cylninders

the 4 banger isn't a mitsu engine. the 6 v6 is. the 4 banger is the 420a. The 420a is an interference engine. If you broke the timing belt, chances are you'll need to replace a bunch of things. Pistions and valves for example.

yes, looking at bent valves, pistons, possible connecting rods. I am unsure how he plans to do a compression check with the belt broke. Chances are that you have at least a bent valve, compression tests arnt nessesary, will be visible once the cylinder head comes off. This is when you ask yourself, do i really want this car anymore???
