97 dodge dakota 4x4 it has random misses on 3 and 4 os autozone says but on my way home yesterday it backfired loudly and just quite running and wont start back doesnt even hit anyone know what it is

if it has a distributor it might have carbon tracks on the rotor and the plugs might be could and the ignition gap might be off

new cap new rotor coil fires but when I test 1 plug it doesnt

is the wire conducting or is it a faulty coil

I put a screwdriver in the coil wire it fireswhen turnover I put the screwdrive in the #1 wire on fire it does not

that makes no sense can you word it differently

I pulled the coil wire off the distributor and put a screwdriver into the wire, laid it on the motor and when you turn the motor over you can see it fire. Done the same thing to the #1 wire and it did not fire

exchange the #1 wire with the wire you tested and got fire and see if it will still have fire
