My 94 dodge dakota makes a noise like it wont crank in the morning then i turn the key back and try again and it cranks right up. What is the problem?

Do i need a new fuel filter? How hard is it to install?

Fuel filter wouldn't keep the engine from cranking I would think. It'd still crank but wouldn't get fuel. Does your fuel pump make the noise as if it's turning on when you turn the key the first time? Are you getting power to the vehicle when you turn the key the first time when it won't crank? I would look at your ignition switch.
