Why did Dodge name this model Durango?

Asked by barbone206 Sep 12, 2010 at 06:27 PM about the Dodge Durango

Question type: General

I am curious to the reasons that Dodge selected the name?  Did an advertising agency name it and why?  Doing a paper on why certain names are selected and the process the company goes through when naming a new model.

I was told it was named after the town Durango in Colorado. There is also a town in north of Spain in Europe that has the name Durango. :o)

I would say its more likely to be named after Durango Colorado because the re-badge of the car is called the Chrysler Aspen, which Aspen is another popular place in Colorado. One car has two names in one state, more likely to be that state.
