If you're willing to do most of the work and
when done you won't be disappointed. Now
mine is still work in progress but I spent
many hours checking and researching. I'd
bought back in July 02 an 01 3500 2wdquad
cab dually w|5.9 HO Cummins 6sp manual.
After 350,000 miles and 14 years I'd put the
truck on a chassis Dyno and put down some
respectful numbers at the wheels. 420hp and
940ftlb torque. Then I had a wreck which
didn't do the body or frame any good. I came
across another Dodge 2000 2wd 1500 regular
cab short bed by auto. Now as far as motor
and tranny the Cummins and 6sp bolt up to
the same exact place as did the rear portion
of the frame which included the Dana 80 axle.
Transfered lower control arms, spindles, hubs
rotors brakes up front and the complete
wiring harness inside and out. Now it's been
on hold for the last 3 years. But when this
project gets done traction might be an issue.
If you choose to do a Cummins swap you
won't regret it.
