how to reattach 4wheel. shift lever that seems to be floating

Had new engine installed have had no reason to use 4w but noticed shift lever is just
floating .is this just a bolt slipped out or more? Can I do this myself ? Thanks

You can do it yourself if you have even rudimentary mechanical skills, But first you have to find out whaasup. Get under it and look. Look at where linkage hooks to transfer case. get a helper, have him/her wiggle the shift lever while you are under looking. Couldn't be all that complicated...except you don't say what year, if its all the new electronic crap. Has a transfer case like I am thinking of. I swear if they could figure out how to make an electronic tire we would have them I'm just old I guess
