Yes you can drive like that as long as you keep it in 2wd.
You are talking about removing the front driveshaft correct?
The front drive shaft has lready been removed...but recently found out transfer case is worn out...it makes a clanging rattling noise going down the road...so I was wondering if it's ok to drive with drive shaft out and transfer case going bad? My sister told me it was ok cuz without the drive shaft in transfer case won't work??? Is that correct???
Oh. If the transfer case is making noise with the front shaft removed and its in 2wd, then no stop driving it before it leaves you on the side of the road somewhere.
http://dodgeram.org/tech/repair/4X4/4x4_engagment.htm ..has some good information. And I agree with TransAm77...it will strand you, right where the boogeyman is. All due respect you sister is mistaken, it's turning gears inside.
LOL you are on a roll today!
That's what I was afraid of
Wouldnt he be okay as long as he keeps it in 2wd
No because the transfer case is mounted to the tail end of the transmission. It will always be turning and if its making noise with the front drive shaft removed it could lock up ot blow up while going down the road. Could ruin the transmission as well and older Dodge Rams are notorious for bad transmissions to start with.
