2017 dodge ram 1500 5.7 hemi: when the eco light goes on does that mean it's in MDS mode?

Eco light means it is running in 4 cylinder MDS mode. When sufficient load is placed on the engine such as going up a slight grade, the engine will switch back to all 8 cylinders and the Eco light will go out. Please note that when in trailer / haul mode the ECO MDS system does not activate.
I have a 2014 Ram so I am well acquainted with the ECO function. Reading the manual should answer any other questions.
I have a 2017 Ram 1500 with the MDS. I do not see the Eco light but I feel n hear when it is operating on 4 cyl. Am I doing something wrong?
I have a 2017 and it comes on in tow/haul mode the only way I have found to shut it off is to put it in manual mode it will still go through all the gears if placed into 8th gear and all the shaking and most of the hesitation will go away! I wish it was always off and it had a button to turn it on!

My 2018 has an eco activation inside the options on the screen display. Mine was off several weeks because I didn’t know about it. I was getting 16-17 mpg with it off. Once I found it and activated it I started getting 18-19 mpg. I never had the green eco light until I enabled the option through the menu on the touch screen
Where exactly is the eco/mds switch on the 2018 5.7 Hemi ? My 2018 sport quad cab does not show any indicator light as my 2014 did...
In your center display screen, go to Apps, Settings, Display and then ✅ the Fuel Saver Display in Cluster
Is their a way to keep it in eco mode?
@Jay, the engine and ECO system is NOT designed to function in ECO mode all the time. Eco mode only activates when engine load is very low.
I have a 2016 ram 1500 Hemi. is it better to put it on the 8th gear as you drive or to keep it as it is to get a better mileage?
our 2018 dodge ram 1500 hemi. dash board lights get brighter and dimmer automaticatly. Is this normal and if yes why?
I have a 2018 Dodge Ram 5.7 hemi and the ECO was not factory set to go on. I read owners manual cover to cover and nothing was mentioned regarding Eco or MDS. I found the answers online. It gets done through the dashboard display
If I never set the light how does mine still go on eco mode? I know it does because on the fuel display i can see that I'm getting 35mpg and there is a deep vibration sound in the engine.
I love the ECO/MDS system in my 2017 Ram. My only complaint is it does not function above 78 mph. I tend to set the cruise at 79 in a 70 zone. Even downhill it's speed limited. Any way to bump it up?
I have a 2003 dodge 2500 with the Hemi. My eco light is on all the time. When I get up to 50 and feel the mds, my truck shakes horribly. I have had lifters and push rods replaced, as well as head gaskets. The throttle body Has been cleaned and the oil pressure sensor was cleaned. I’m at a loss because now at any speed you can feel the truck shaking. I’ve had tires and all that checked. Do I scrap it or is there a fix?
Lots of bad information here...ECO is the dodge version of a ECONOMY light..these economy lights and gauges have been around since the 80's and have nothing to do with the MDS shut down or 4cylinder mode...the internet is spreeding a lot of bad information . The eco light..which can be turned off in the u-connact settings...monitors ebgine vacuum the same way all economy gauges do...fo you older guy or hot rodders you'll remember that in the 50's cars had vacuum windshild wipers and when you stepped on the gas the wipers would stop..this is because a motor under load drops in vacuum as the internal air in the engine equalizes with the external are as the throttle plates are opened...thats how eco lights work...now are you driving more efficiently in 4cyl mode..yeah generally..but if you have a tuner with the MDS shut off you'll notice you still have a working eco light even running all 8 cylinders...here is a picture of a 1982 Oldsmobile dash with a ECO gauge in the upper right...these gauges are nothing new.
