4 times ,depends on your speed each gear goes from a lower gear 1&2 (less speed more for pulling or incline) 3&4 (more speed less pull or incline) witch means its better to go slower and pull heavy load up a hill in 2and than it would be for it to pull it up a hill in 3ard or 4th gear
very helpful. thanks i learned something new. Thanks a bunch
Seriously! A 4 speed gear box should change gear 4 times to get from 1st to 4th? Here's a test you can do and the best part (in your case) is that you don't even need to be near a car! Make sure your wearing pants with pockets and grab yourself 4 coins, now make sure 1 of your pockets is empty. Now, take your 4 coins and drop them into your pocket 1 AT A TIME. How many times did you hear the coins clink? Your answer should be 3 because the 1st coin had nothing but an empty pocket to fall into. Now apply this to an automatic gear box and imagine that each 1 of your shiny metal coins is a separate gear. So, your in D (for drive) which means that your gear box has already selected the first gear for you, you start to drive and your "box" switches up to 2nd (first clink in the pocket = 1st gear change), then it changes into 3rd (2nd clink in the pocket = 2nd gear change) and now your out on the open road and stretching the cars legs when the gearbox changes into 4th (Yep, you guessed it, 3rd and final clink in your pocket is equal to the 3rd and final gear change in that 4 speed auto box!).... If you drive from 1st to 4th gear without disruption your gearbox will change gear 3! times.
