high rpm

did it start all at once or did come on over time , if it started all at once you may have a vaccum leak between the air cleaner box to the throttle body, mounted on the intake manifold, you didnt say how miles on car, such as a vaccum hose off or unplugged from something. also if the car has lots of miles you could have carbon buildup on throttle blade and throttle body housing, that will cause the idle air control valve to stay open more than normal.
okay well I have the same exact car a Dodge Stratus SXT 4 door sedan V6 engine and I have the same problem with high RPMs and high idle and I also do have an issue with the vacuum hose it showed up on the computer when they scanned it as being an issue but they don't exactly know where the leak is if it is a leak but another problem I'm having is that my cruise control doesn't work could that have something to do with the vacuum also? I have a 141000 miles and I replaced the alternator battery housing on the radiator overflow tank and headlights have been replaced so it's been moved around in there that vacuum hose has I've also had the transmission flushed could it be that it got knocked loose when all this work was being done? Because it seems like it was a slow leak because sometimes it would be working the cruise control would sometimes it didn't lately it hasn't worked at all and I've been having a high RPM problem how serious is this problem and do I need to have it fixed immediately? And what is something like that normally cost if you have any idea that would be very helpful
